Featuring: Framework for SCADA Cybersecurity

This presentation will overview the contents of the e-book “Framework for SCADA Cybersecurity” including the InduSoft Web Studio Security Guide. The purpose of the presentation is promote awareness of the Cybersecurity Critical Infrastructure Framework, SCADA Cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities, importance of risk assessments, how to use the framework, how to use the Department of Homeland Security CSET tool with the framework, a look into applying security to InduSoft Web Studio, and overview of training programs teaching the application of the Cybersecurity Critical Infrastructure Framework to SCADA environments.
About our speakers: Richard Clark
Technical Specialist and Controls Engineer at InduSoft concentrating on cybersecurity, 3rd party product integration, specialized application development, and product marketing. Mr. Clark has been in Automation, Process System, and Control System design and implementation for more than 25 years and was employed by Wonderware where he developed a non-proprietary means of using IP-Sec for securing current and legacy Automation, SCADA, and Process Control Systems, and developed non-proprietary IT security techniques. Industry expert by peer review and spokesperson on IT security; consultant, analyst and previous voting member of ISA- SP99. Contributor to PCSF Vendor Forum. Consultant to NIST and other government labs and NSA during the development of NIST Special Publication 800-82. Published engineering white papers, manuals, and instruction documents, developed and given classes and lectures on the topic of ICS/SCADA Security.
Stephen D. Miller
Mr. Miller has been in the IS since 1966 working in business, government, and education sectors. He has a MS/MIS Managing Computer Technology from Houston Baptist University, BS and BIS (Phi Kappa Phi honors) from the U of H - Downtown, and AAS/Business Data Processing & Technical Certificate from San Jacinto College. Mr. Miller is ITIL Certified in IT – Service Management, Certified in Business Process Reengineering, and Quality Matters for e-learning and in Organizational Management for Improving Organizational Effectiveness from The Office of Executive Development, Rice University.
Mr. Miller is currently an Associate Professor, SME and Director for IS/Cyber Security Center of Excellence, where he is responsible for developing IS Curriculum, SCADA, Cyber Security program development, research, and teaching. He has recently developed an online Computer and Network Security Certification Program offered in the spring 2011 and is currently creating a Center of Excellence for Cyber and SCADA Forensics Security.
Mr. Miller is retired from ExxonMobil Global Information Systems where he served in management, supervisory and technical roles over his 27 year career. He has been employed at Ford TechRep Division (programmer), U.S. Army 1st Calvary Div. in Vietnam (computer specialist), and Univac Corp. - NASA Mission Control on the APOLLO—including APOLLO 13, and Skylab Missions (Communications and Telemetry Systems Analyst), TRW Controls (Project Manager), United Way of the Coastal Bend (Community Services Director), and self-employed Consulting Company.
Mr. Miller is participating in SCADA Cyber Forensics coalition with New Mexico Tech, Idaho National Labs, Department of Homeland Security, and Ruidoso Independent School District, the NIST workshops for the Cybersecurity Critical Infrastructure Framework standards, and recently coauthored a textbook “Framework for SCADA Cybersecurity”. Mr. Miller received the 2012-13 President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, is a certified Quality Matters Reviewer and SME, SUN Online Certified Instructor, a coach for National Cyber League (NCL) cybersecurity capture the flag competition, and an active member of CyberWatch and CyberWatch West.
