Retel Neuhausen AG Helps Merck & Cie Meeting New, Tight Standards

In the pharmaceutical industry, the chemical integrity of the compounds may rely on the strict control of hundreds of variables, from air humidity and freezer temperatures to mixing times. Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) may be used in anything from prescription drugs to cough drops. Other high-purity substances rely on strict environmental control for production. Because these controlled substances and pharmaceutical compounds must be perfectly consistent across each batch, records of every aspect of the process must be maintained, from storage to mixing and processing, to transport and delivery.

Building Management Systems for Hospitals

First Mile has developed a building automation system based on InduSoft Web Studio to monitor a hospital in Moscow.

Nowhere is the quality of a building automation system more important than in a hospital. Not only is the comfort and safety of the patients a prime concern, but that of the hospital workers as well. Doctors, nurses, and administrators must all be protected from the spread of viruses and bacteria. A hospital must also be energy efficient, with backup and redundant systems in place designed to turn on in the event of a power outage or other emergency.

Electronic Controls and Automation Has a Lock on New Detention System Technology

Dostoevsky wrote in his literary work Crime and Punishment that “The degree of civilization in a society is revealed by entering its prisons."

Indeed, while most people agree that prisons are necessary, most people also believe that prison inmates should be treated humanely. What’s not been considered until recently is how technology can assist in the mission of most detention centers: to safely secure individuals having been sentenced by the state to a prison term.

Paulista Shopping Mall

The InduSoft application used by the Paulista Shopping Mall allows a small staff to monitor and control all automated systems inside a modern shopping mall located on the stylish Rua Treze de Maio in São Paulo, Brazil.  The graphical capabilities of InduSoft allowed creation of an intuitive and easy to use interface, which makes it very simple, even for inexperienced users, to monitor and control environmental conditions in the mall. From the control room, the duty operator can perform tasks such as turning on and off specific sections of the monitoring system, check temperatures in different areas of the mall and change setpoints as needed, check for failures in the electrical system, visualize the demand control, print reports, visualize and acknowledge alarms, and—very important to this user—set schedulers to turn on and off specific areas or pieces of equipment inside the system.
