Máquinas Fix Develops Industrial Solution for the Manufacturing of Ecological Bricks

Awareness is growing globally for the need for more ecologically sustainable methods of production. One company in Brazil, Monteiro Tijolos, produces ecological bricks that have a much smaller carbon footprint and can be used in sustainable architecture instead of resource-heavy traditional fired bricks. Surry Chemicals Creates Brilliant Results for the Garment Industry

Organic and synthetic fibers are not naturally a consistent shade of white. Imperfections in the fibers and the result of the handling process means that fibers used in the garment industry must eventually be bleached to produce a brilliant, even shade of white. For large hosiery producers such as Hanes, consistently producing the exact shade of white for a particular line requires a controlled dose of chemicals that will deliver the same result for every batch of socks produced.

Automated Batch Process Analysis for the Food and Beverage Industry

Few industries are regulated as closely as the food and beverage industry. Food safety standards are particularly critical to public health, and there are many regulating bodies that audit and dictate the standards that food manufacturers must meet. Among these regulatory bodies are the FDA (Food and Drug Administration in the United States), and independent organizations such as the GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative). Manufacturers of food products are often audited by these agencies for food safety, and as a result, recordkeeping for food manufacturers is vital to the process of food manufacturing and packaging.

Saving Lives and Property With Sandbags

During natural disaster situations, sandbags are used to protect people and property. In addition to becoming lifesaving tools during floods and storms, sandbags are also used to provide a steady base for oil, gas, and water pipelines. Sandbags are used in these situations because they provide consistent, flexible weight that enables them to become effective barriers and ballast in a variety of applications. One sandbag manufacturer, Sandbags, enlisted the aid of Quantum Automation in creating a system that would improve the monitoring capabilities and control of their existing sandbag machine.

Mother Parkers

*Updated from 2005*

Mother Parkers Tea & Coffee Inc. is a leading Canadian owned and operated producer of quality tea and coffee products in the North American marketplace.  In June, 2001 it started up a $25-million, 100,000-sq.-ft. Greenfield plant at Fort Worth, Texas. This highly-automated plant had a starting capacity to roast, grind, blend and package private-label coffees at a rate of 20 million lbs. per year, since expanded to over 130 million lbs. per year, and it currently manufactures more than 600 SKUs. Three years after startup, it added a new packaging line to expand production of private labeled cans of coffee.  The additional line consisted of used equipment which needed to be retrofitted with controls in order to be updated. This project has since grown from one production line within the facility, to encompass the monitoring system for every production line.

Redesigning a Stable City Water System with InduSoft Web Studio

Municipal water and wastewater processing is a vital part of any community infrastructure. Access to clean water is considered a basic human right, but without efficient methods of processing water and wastewater, the costs of providing access to the community can be difficult to shoulder. This is especially true for small towns like Wolfforth, Texas, which was struggling under the cost of an expensive SCADA system that often required maintenance and overtime employees for manual operation of the water processing facilities. However, thanks to Lubbock Electric Co., Wolfforth was able to adapt their system to a secure, reliable SCADA architecture that offered cost efficiency, less manual involvement, and far greater reliability.
