Analog Indicator

Name: AnalogIndicator_01.sym

Range (if applicable): 0-9999 (maybe more)

Properties: See below

Description:

This is minimal color, easy to use, graphically intuitive Analog Indicator.

Notes:

  1. This symbol contains only native IWS objects.

  2. It uses Enhanced graphics (for shadows) that should be turned on in the Project – Settings – Viewer.

  3. A yellow triangle will appear if the TagName is below the lo or lolo limits or above the hi or hihi limits. The rectangle representing each of these ranges will also turn yellow.

Property

Description

TagName

Current value, this is the value shown in blue below at the bottom and the gray triangle

Decimal

This is the number of characters to show to the right of the decimal, example set to 0, 1 or 2

DesiredMax

Max value of light blue area in the middle

DesiredMin

Min value of light blue area in the middle

Label

Text that will be show at the very top of the indicator

Max

Overall maximum

Min

Overall minimum

ShowValue

Set to 0 if the blue text should be hidden, or 1 if it should show. Can be a tag and change during runtime.

Units

Text that will show just below the top Label. Although labeled as “units” it can be any text

Note: IMPORTANT. Because this uses Tag Properties for the Alarm limits, you need to enable the tag for Alarms. The easiest way to do this is via an alarm worksheet, but there are other ways. The values can be changed during runtime but the worksheet is used to just “enable” the alarm limits

Suggestion: Create a configuration screen (with security) that allows configuration of all of the set points. For example a Text object with Text I/O animation with Input Enabled, that uses the syntax: TagName->HiLimit to adjust the “Hi” alarm limit.

Ideas for improvement:

  1. Add different colors

  2. Allow negative values

  3. Add different styles
