InduSoft recently ran a competition for the best SCADA/HMI screencaps showcasing IWS based SCADA and HMI solutions. We’d like to congratulate Julio Delgado, who sent us some amazing screens from Stock America ICON RMS HMI applications. We were impressed with the graphics utilized to display the process, as well as a great use of InduSoft features like the tools for FDA Title 21 CFR Part 11 compliance and the web thin client.
About Stock America
Stock America is an OEM company that manufactures machines for retort and sterilization in the food and beverage and pharmaceutical industries. The retort process provides thermal processing conditions for food and drugs in quality controlled containers. These include cans, jars, pouches, trays, and other containers. Stock America focuses on high quality retort and sterilizer equipment that is USDA/FDA compliant. For this reason, InduSoft’s tools for SCADA security allow developers to use the secure database, in which individual operator actions can be recorded and logged with username and password restricted access. During each process, reports are automatically sent to a remote SQL database, and can be printed to show the report at the end of each batch. Recipes are stored as well.
Stock America chose InduSoft over other options for several reasons, including:
- Ease of use
- Easily configured database connectivity that makes it easy to comply with FDA standards
- Security, and support for Microsoft Active Directory
- Indirect tags
- Ability to log alarms and events to SQL servers for use in reports
- A tag database structure that allows easy tag classes
- An easy and convenient web thin client option
Stock America works hard to ensure that their ICONRMS HMI system included with the equipment is easy to use, and intuitive for operators. For this, Stock America made use of the graphic tools and extensive symbol library available in InduSoft Web Studio. Options for tanks, pipes, valves and dashboards make it easy to simulate their equipment. The web thin client option also allows plant managers to view the HMI from an office or a Windows powered smartphone without having to be on the plant floor to view the status of the process. Reports and recipes can be easily retrieved from the SQL database from an ASP.Net based remote system.
Stock America currently has around twenty machines available that run their ICONRMS HMI developed with InduSoft Web Studio. InduSoft is proud give companies such as Stock America recognition for their efforts in making excellent HMI and SCADA applications for machine operators and plant managers.
