InduSoft Web Studio supports a full featured version of IWS for Windows CE and Windows Embedded editions. The SCADA Software can also be used as a web thin client on Windows smartphones and tablets, or in the Internet Explorer browser. But how can you get full visualization for your project when using an Android phone or tablet or an iOS device like the iPhone, iPod Touch, or the iPad? By using a remote desktop application, you can take full advantage of all the features of InduSoft Web Studio projects without using a Windows based device.
How to access your SCADA application on an Android or iOS device
The first thing you will need to do in order to connect to your SCADA software application is create a machine on the network that runs on Windows Server 2003 or 2008. These operating systems support Windows Terminal Services, making them ideal for using a remote desktop. While it is possible to connect to a remote desktop using other Microsoft operating systems, the recommended configuration is a Windows Server edition operating system. The machine on the network can even be the machine that is currently running InduSoft Web Studio
Once the network is configured, install the Thin Client on the machine running Terminal Services. Configure the Secure Viewer to connect from this server to the InduSoft Web Studio server. Create a user and add the Secure Viewer to the Startup folder. Authorize this user for remote access.
Once everything is configured:
There are quite a few remote desktop applications available on both the Apple iTunes store and the Android Market. InduSoft recommends the RDP App. There are free versions and paid versions available, and users have the flexibility to choose the remote desktop client that works the best for their needs. Install the application onto your device, and from there you will be able to access your SCADA project over the iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, or an Android tablet or phone.
