Pack Expo 2012 “wrapped up” Wednesday this week and was as busy as I have ever seen. I haven’t been able to find official attendance records, but according to the Pack Expo web site there were over 1,800 exhibitors and “record setting registration numbers”. Who knows what the attendance would have been if the super storm Sandy didn’t find the East coast of the US.
Maybe the days of sparsely populated booths are over. I noticed many of the “frills” that had disappeared in recent years were back. Some booths had several people giving massages, give-aways were easy to find, and there were plenty of hosted events.
Another trend was “Green”. Pack Expo even made special “green” logos available to those companies that offer sustainable and/or environmentally friendly solutions.
InduSoft participated with partners in two different booths.
In the Beckhoff booth we demonstrated an early version of multi-touch. Multi-touch and publishing to mobile devices (such as iPads or Android tablets or phones) captured the most interest. OEE monitoring and other ways of increasing productivity also generated quite a bit of interest.
We were also present in the CCS-Inc. booth where they demoed the Seppla-T.
This industrial panel PC was designed from the ground up with packaging applications in mind. Designed to be a drop-in replacement for AB PanelView product line, the Seppala-T can ship with IWS preloaded to provide a cost-effective alternative to existing solutions.
