October is the 10th Anniversary of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and a group of federal officials, Fortune 500 CEOs, and digital industry leaders visited NASDAQ and rang the opening bell this morning (October 21st), marking the launch of the National Cyber Security Alliance website.
During the last two months, InduSoft has participated in the 4th and final NIST Cybersecurity Framework Workshop held in September. The framework was supposed to have been published on October 10th, but likely was delayed due to the government shutdown.
InduSoft and Associate Professor Stephen Miller of Eastern New Mexico University-Ruidoso, Information Systems/Cyber Security Center of Excellence are currently collaborating on a textbook explaining the use of the NIST Cyber Security Framework and how to use it with InduSoft Web Studio HMI Aoftware. The university will be offering online training and certifications for Cybersecurity within this program, and the demo machines will be using InduSoft Web Studio, so our customers will be familiar with the software being used. The textbook should be available around the end of the year, and we’ll let you know more as the date approaches.
Speaking of Professor Miller, he gave an excellent webinar entitled, “Cybersecurity for Automation”. He covered the use of the CSET Tool, along with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework in this October 9 webinar, and you can watch it here. Finally, Vern Williams, Chief Security Officer of Cyber Defenses gave a webinar earlier in the year entitled, “SCADA Security Considerations” that you can watch again.
Indusoft has also given a number of product security, case studies, and best practices webinars hosted by our own engineering staff. Simply search on the webinars page (Hover over the Support Tab/Video Library/Webinars) using the search term, “security” to unearth these and many other treasures.
Remember also, that there is more detailed enterprise Cybersecurity information available through the Wonderware (Invensys) website Security Central (requires an Invensys USERID), and on the Triconex (Invensys) website along with the Invensys partner Tofino, in case you are planning a larger enterprise integration using InduSoft Web Studio using Studio Mobile Access along with Wonderware System Platform and Historian, as demonstrated at the Dallas at the Invensys Software Conference and Tech Support Symposium last week. We will be repeating this demonstration of the integration at the upcoming SPS Industrial Goods Exhibition in Nuremburg, Germany (Bavaria) on November 26-28.
